In-Situ Concrete Tests

3. Concrete Cube Making

The compressive strength of concrete can be determined by the concrete cube compression test.  In order to make the test concrete cube, the mould shall be placed on a rigid horizontal surface.  The concrete shall be placed in the mould in layers approximately 50mm depth and each layer shall be compacted compacting bar.  The minimum number of strokes per layer required to produce full compaction will depend upon the workability of the concrete but in no case sall be leass than 35 strokes per layer for 150mm cubes.  After the top layer has been compacted, it shall be levelled to the top of the mould with a steel float, and the sides of the mould shall be wiped clean.
Concrete Cube Making Procedures:
Applying mould oil  Filling the 1st layer fresh concrete. Each layer should be approximately 50mm deep Compacting the 1st layer with compacting bar Filling the 2nd layer fresh concrete
Compacting the 2nd layer Filling the 3rd layer fresh concrete and then compacted to the required height Levelling the top surface with a steel float Cleaning the sides of the mould
