In the design of seawall, the following factors should be taken into
consideration:
| |
selection of design wave |
| |
stability against wave attack covering the design of : |
| armour | |
| underlayers | |
| bedding layers | |
| |
core and toe protection |
| |
crest level |
In the Pak Shek Kok reclamation, the seawall was founded on the alluvial
sand/completely decomposed rock stratum at tentative level -14.0mPD.
The marine deposits underlying the seawall was completely removed by dredging.
After forming the foundation trench, a layer of sand and a layer of rubble
were placed in sequence. For the stability of rubble structures against
wave attack, rock armour should cover the rubble core. Finally, the
armour should be trimmed to the designed slope profile.
